The VisMaster Coordination Action, a European Union program, is publishing a research roadmap entitled Solving Problems with Visual Analytics. The VisMaster book outlines the current state of visual analytics across multiple disciplines, and describes the next steps necessary to foster a strong visual analytics community.
This book is the result of the final reports of the VisMaster consortium’s thematic working groups. Each group focused on a particular aspect of visual analytics, bringing together interested parties from numerous disciplines to collaborate. Each chapter of the book addresses a different domain where visual analytics techniques may be applied. Content of the book is meant to inspire the user community to apply current visual analytics technology to solve their own real-world problems, and engage the research community to help define and develop visual analytics technologies to meet future challenges.
Editors for the book were Daniel Keim (Scientific Coordinator of VisMaster), Jörn Kohlhammer (Coordinator of VisMaster), Geoffrey Ellis and Florian Mansmann. VisMaster was funded by the Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) programme within the Seventh Framework Programme for Research of the European Commission.
